Uganda Data Rates, May 2012, Few offers for Daily Packages

The Uganda Internet market has been growing steadily fast. One of the challenges it faces are the data costs which though have reduced over the years are still on the high side for more and faster internet penetration to take place. The different operators have packaged their offers into daily, weekly and monthly offerings.

 A survey of the available 3G, EDGE, GPRS packages from four operators, MTN Uganda, Orange Uganda, Airtel Uganda and Warid Telecom indicates that two of the operators MTN Uganda and Orange Uganda hardly have daily packages whereas Warid Telecom and Airtel have introduced daily and weekly packages as of May 2012.  The cost for the two operator’s daily packages is competitive. What will mostly differentiate them would be the quality of service to their customers.

All operators have monthly packages with costing that is not significantly different. Hence clients should look at quality of service ahead of cost. This could be a little different if cost was significantly different.
