The MTN Internet Expo continues on its journey across Uganda.

MTN Uganda has held its 4th Internet Expo of 2014. The three day event was held in Mbarara from Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th Augustat the Ntare Road Car Park. These expos are designed to take the experience and access to the Internet closer to the people and these events. MTN puts on show the latest devices and solutions in the digital world, which enables Ugandans across Uganda to experience and access the latest digital services available. The Mbarara Expo follows others held in Kabale, Jinja and Kampala and will be followed with another in Lira November later this year.Dan Muhereza, a 32 year old businessman in Kabale said he was enlightened by what was on display at the expo and satisfied with the customer care by staff there.
 
“I’m happy with the reception I got here. All my questions were answered to my satisfaction. I have also made good use ofthe free Wi-Fi offered. I was able to download a number of useful apps which I couldn’t have done under normal circumstances”, he said.
 
In line with the brand’s mission ofdelivering a bold, new digital world, MTN Uganda has since last year taken these expos aroundthe country to give its customers the opportunity to see and try out the latest data solutions making global headlines today. MTN Uganda has over 3 million Internet users and the MTN Internet expos are designed to grow this number of customers who use the Internet as a source of information and knowledge.
 
MTN has invested significantly in ensuring that all of Uganda is connected to the Internet both in the network and access through devices. In the six months ending 30 June 2014, MTN Uganda invested in an additional 133 2G sites plus 138 3G sites. There were also 243 existent 2G sites upgraded in various locations across the country.MTN’s total investments in Uganda exceeded Ushs. 137 billion in 2013 while a further Ushs. 150 billion has beenearmarked for 2014. MTN Uganda has also partnered with reputable International brands like Samsung, BlackBerry, Nokia, Huawei and Apple among others to offer devices that suit different lifestyles and budgets of customers. MTN Uganda’s Acting Chief Marketing Officer Kenneth Kiddu said, “MTN will continue using the expos to educate and create awareness of the vast opportunities available through the use of ICT as well as expose customers to the range ofdata solutionsavailable from MTN”.
 
“At MTN we are constantly keeping pace with the evolution of ICT.The speed at which the world is moving technologically leaves us with no option but move with it.Our priority is to make sure that deliver access to fast but affordable Internet access to Uganda wherever they are across Uganda.” He added.
 
Mr. Hilary Kuraije, the Regional Police Commander,who officiated at the opening of the Mbarara expo, commended MTN for the initiative and for takingit to the people of Mbarara. He also pointed out that internet is a necessary tool that can be used in all spheres to improve on business efficiency and productivity, live better lives, as well as improve on security.
